How SEO Works

I personally enjoyseo-picture learning all different Search Engine Optimization (SEO) methods to increase your blog rankings and its authority in the web. However today, the thought that crossed my mind was “how do you define SEO?” and what does it actually mean to a layman

Most Search Engines like Google have spider called the Google Bot, it can  be looked at like  Google Software that they send out on the web at very high speeds. The spider’s job is to constantly scan for content and look for links. Every link that the spider finds and sees lets the spider find a new page. And when a new page is scanned on the web by the Google Bot, its called “Indexing”. Now, when you have a new web page on the internet, the best way is to build up back links and let the google spider recognize it.

Indexing means that the Google Spider has found your webpage from a link somewhere placed on the web and it has added your webpage to its huge existing database.

Now, from the that huge database that Google maintains, the bot needs to determine how to display information that on its search engine result pages (SERP’s) when a particular keyword or phrase is searched for.

This is where the famous Google Algorithm comes into play. Every search engine maintains their own algorithm that analyzes the content in their database and determines how the content will be displayed on their search engine result pages

This is where the Search Engine Optimization Game begins for all the webmasters. Through many years of trial and error, the SEO industry has learned what parts of their indexed content the Google Spider places importance on.

In my next post, we’ll discuss on On Page & Off Page Factors that’ll determine your Blog’s success.
