Before getting ranked in Google you need to make sure to get your blog indexed. If you blog has not been indexed in google, how do you expect to get ranked..
There are many who think that if you put up your link (you blog post) and the search engine spiders will scan and index your page.
To get your blog indexed you need to know where the search engine spiders hang out and then show them the link to your blog… So where actually do search engine spiders hang out?
The Spiders hang out wherever there is a constant sources of fresh information. Or probably even where there are constant sources of new links for them to index. The highest sources of new links are available at social bookmarking websites and content sharing sites (Article directories)
So next time you need to get something indexed very quickly, just submit your link to digg.com, stumbleupon.com, propellor.com, mixx.com etc
And to monitor if your links have been indexed or not, type in the full URL into google like this http://www.yoursite.com and if it shows up in the search listing, then it has been indexed by Google.

Submitting all posts to Digg or Reddit might potentially get you banned. I think submitting your sitemap and pinging Google whenever your blog is updated should suffice. Works for me, saves time and patience as well!
